CLINICAL INFORMATION
A case of accident with right knee pain
for 8 months.
TECHNIQUE AND SEQUENCES: 1.5 TESLA
Sagittal oblique T2W FS, PDW
Coronal oblique T1W, T2W FS, GRE T2*W
Axial T1W, PDW FS
Coronal oblique for ACL T2W FS
FINDINGS:
ACL and PCL
There is complete tear of PCLwith atrophic change of torn PCL fiber.There
is normal size, alignment and signal intensity of ACL.No bone marrow
contusionis seen. Ligament of Wrisberg is present.
Medial Femorotibial Compartment
Medial meniscus shows normal contour and signal intensity. Complete tear
at proximal portion of the superficial layer of MCL is noted. The articular
cartilage is unremarkable. No subchondral marrow edemais observed.
Lateral Femorotibial Compartment
Lateral meniscus shows normal contour and signal intensity.Grade I
ligamentous sprain at distal portion of LCL and popliteus tendinosis are noted.
The iliotibial bandand biceps femoris tendon are unremarkable. There is low
grade partial thickness cartilaginous loss at lateral tibial plateau, measured about
0.5x0.6 cm.No subchondral marrow edema is observed.
Patellofemoral Compartment
Patella is in normal position. There isno cartilaginous lossor subchondral
marrow edema. The quadriceps, patellar tendon and patellar retinaculum show no
abnormal signal intensity.
Others
Small amount of joint effusion is seen. No fracture or osteochondral body
is detected. The visualized muscles, popliteal vessels, tibial and common
peroneal nerves are unremarkable.
IMPRESSION:
- Complete tear of PCLwith atrophic change of torn PCL fiber.
- Complete tear at proximal portion of the superficial layer of MCL.
-Grade I ligamentous sprain at distal portion of LCL and popliteus tendinosis.
-Low grade partial thickness cartilaginous loss at lateral tibial plateau, about
0.5x0.6 cm.
-Small amount ofknee joint effusion.
