[CR] Thai movie review "Death Whisperer"

Last year, I had the chance to watch Tee Yod (Death Whisperer) in the theater because the teaser with its eerie sound design stuck in my head, and the buzz on social media piqued my interest. When Netflix brought it in, I watched it again and found that Tee-Yod is a very well-made film with many fascinating elements.
First, in terms of the storyline, the description shows me this movie is based on a true story. This made this film even more frightening
and engaging. The introduction of the characters was briefly, allowing us to understand their personalities and backgrounds. After that,
strange events started happening, making us gradually become anxious along with the characters. As we began to question the events,
the mysteries were slowly revealed each event flowed perfectly into the next, keeping me engaged, and I could still remember the points that had previously made me curious.

One of reason that made me really like this movie is the graphic design. Of course, the identity of a horror film is using darkness, but this movie surprisingly introduces the ghost in a scene set in broad daylight with plenty of light. This technique works well, as it still manages to deceive me. As for the night scenes, they don't completely darkness but instead, they use fog to create a blurry effect, giving the feeling that something bad is happening. Additionally, the use of color pairs is also well executed. For instance, in the scene where Yam, Yhad, and Yee are walking through the forest, the dry green color of the forest is contrasted by the characters wearing bright orange and red cardigan, which adds depth to the image. The camera angles are also very well done, with frequent cuts that create scenes where we think a ghost is about to appear, but then it doesn’t, making us feel relieved. However, just when we think it’s safe, the ghost suddenly shows up, catching us completely off guard. That’s what made me break into a cold sweat!

Another iconic element of this film is the soundtrack, both the sound effects and the music. The highly memorable sound effect came from a story told by the original creator, who described the dragging of the word Tia Yhod. The production team then used this to create the sound, which turned out to be incredibly eerie and unforgettable. It’s terrifying. As for the soundtrack, it’s a traditional Northeast Thailand song(you can by this link https://youtu.be/P0Edj0lDh2M?si=aEvJReTSWxXzXYKW ), made me feel sad, as the lyrics express losing someone love. Additionally, there’s background music in other scenes, such as the chase scene in the field, where the music gradually gets louder, making our hearts race along with the rhythm of the song.

Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. The production is detailed, even in the small details that might be unnoticed, but the director made
sure not to miss it. That’s why the film look so great. I would recommend that anyone expecting a very terrifying experience may not find this movie as scary as you imagine.
