(Reuters) -Pfizer Inc and German partner BioNTech said on Friday the U.S. government has purchased 200 million additional doses of their COVID-19 vaccine to help with pediatric vaccination as well as possible booster shots - if they are needed.

Pfizer last year signed a deal with the U.S. government for 100 million doses of the vaccine for nearly $2 billion,
with an option to buy 500 million more doses.
A majority of the new doses will be supplied by the end of the year, and the remaining 90 million will be delivered by April 30,
