Hi there ;)
If you are worrying about starting a new chapter of ur life in Thailand, I mean ur new workplace. You have asked the right person! First, u should understand that Thailand🇹🇭 has a super high context culture❗️which is very different from America🇺🇸 in that people usually say what they think straightforwardly. And as the quote “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” I am not gonna say u should change ur identity or ur way of expressing things at all, ‼️but be careful, keep reminding this fact and in sensitive context or topic trying to say it a little bit indirectly isn’t a bad way (meet halfway) and experience will teach u! Keep going!✌️
Second thing u have to know is Thai society mostly has a seniority system👴🧓especially in the workplace means seniors have decision-making power and employees have to undertake and respect seniors . This depends on the company u work with. Most new companies don't have this system and Thai people usually are open minded with new culture as u know. But if you work with the company that strict to the seniority system and it is contrast to ur personality you may have to adapt and get used to ur workplace traditions, in case the system isn’t suit you at all😥and u suffer a lot. It is very understandable cuz we came from different backgrounds. U can consult me again anytime and we’ll figure out the better solution💡, cuz bearing and forcing yourself to be who u aren't. I don’t think it is a good idea. Everyone has their own place!!!!👩💻🧑💻👨💼👩💼
Tips for American who is coming to Thailand for work.
