If you want to access unlimited content without geo-restrictions on your Android TV box then you have to connect an android VPN with your smart TV. There are obvious reasons to connect VPN with your android box.
AVPN for android TV bypasses geo-restrictions, saves you from bandwidth throttling, and keeps your TV and internet connection secure from hackers. There are two ways to set up a VPN on your Android TV box. I will explain both one by one.
Method 1: Setup Android VPN on Android TV
To follow this method, make sure that you’re using a VPN for android, the VPN app should be available on the Google Play Store.
• Open Google Play Store
• Find and download your preferred VPN service app
• Launch VPN app and sign up
• Tap at the “Connect” button and you’re done
Note: When you click connect then you will be connected to any of the nearest server. If you want to unlock content from a specific location then make sure to select a server location.
Method 2: How to Setup VPN on Android Box
Users who have an older version of Android TV cannot follow this method. To follow this process, your Android box must be running on the latest android version. If you are using older than Android 5 Lollipop version then you can follow method 1 which I already have mentioned above.
In this method, you can install a VPN app that is not available on Google Play Store. These apps work with software and hence never tested by Google. Therefore, be very careful while sideloading such apps. Also, sideloading a VPN app is more complex than installing it directly from the Google Play Store. You also have to contact your VPN provider to install special configuration files to further continue the process.
Here’s how to sideload a VPN app for Android TV:
• Log in to your VPN service account from its website and install configuration files.
• Save your zipped downloaded configuration files to a safe folder
• Open Google Play Store, search and install OpenVPN Connect client
• Now, launch the OpenVPN Connect client and choose “OpenVPN profile” from the given options
• On the top left corner, click at the “Menu”
• Move to the folder where you saved downloaded config files and tap “import”
• Select any title that you want
• Enter credentials provided by your VPN provider
• Click on connect. If you find any disclaimer then click OK
• An icon will appear soon when you get connected.
