Former Uefa president Michel Platini has been arrested over the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.
Mediapart in France claim Platini was taken into custody on Tuesday as part of the investigation into the decision to host the World Cup in Qatar. The 63-year-old was president of Uefa between 2007 and 2015, before he was banned by The Fifa Ethics Committee.
