Mac Miller found dead at home aged just 26...
US rapper Mac Miller was found dead at his California home earlier today from an apparent overdose. The 26 year old, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, was about to kick off his North American tour next month. Mac Miller became famous in 2011 after his debut Album topped the Billboard 200. He released a series of albums and EPs, collaborating with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell Williams. His latest Album, 'Swimming', released earlier this year, about his ongoing struggles with substance abuse, peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 66,000 album-equivalent units, 30,000 of which were pure album sales. It was Mac Miller’s fifth consecutive top-five album in the United States.
In 2016 the Rapper had released The Divine Feminine about what he called "the feminine energy of the planet," which many took to be a tribute to his partner at the time, Ariana Grande. The Rapper collaborated on a number of songs with Grande and performed together at the One Love Manchester concert in 2017 before breaking up in May this year. In his music and interviews, he was open about his addictions which eventually prompted Grande to end their relationship. The same month he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and abandoning the scene. Grande said she had "tried to support his sobriety" for years, and was praying that he "figures it all out".
Top Artists including Snoop Dog, Wiz Khalifa, Diplo, Missy Elliott, Charlie Puth and Shawn Mendes paid tribute to Miller on Twitter after news of his death broke earlier today. Chance the Rapper said he was "completely broken" after hearing the news and described Miller as "one of the sweetest guys I ever knew".
