Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic returned to the Hopman Cup for the second time in a row
and they wanted nothing less than the title, the first after 17 years.
Back in 2001, a 19-year-old Roger won the Hopman Cup trophy with Martina Hingis
and he did the same with Belinda, beating Germany 2-1 in the final clash to lift the trophy for the second time
and make a perfect preparation for the upcoming Australian Open where he will defend his title won in 2017.
Roger won the opening singles tie against Alexander Zverev, coming from a set down,
and the tie was leveled when Angelique Kerber beat Belinda Bencic, in the match of the undefeated players
so far at the tournament.
The winner was to be decided in the mixed doubles match, that the Swiss pair won by 4-3 4-2 to grab their Hopman Cup crown.
Roger and Belinda lost just 1 out of 12 matches and they came as a deserved champions after such a great performance.
