Higher education could be funded in three ways. All costs paid by government, all costs paid by students or students paying all costs through a government load. What are the advantages of these choices?
Tuition fee is considered as one of the factors for students who want to continue studying after finishing secondary schools. In some countries, the fee is covered by their government while for others their students have to pay the fee by themselves. Some governments lend funds to learners first and students have to pay money back. All of these means have its own advantages.
Any person who pass university's requirements can pursue higher degree without worrying about financial issue if all fees are covered by government. This way students can focus only on maths, physics or any specific study that the course requires. Moreover, there will be more opportunity for them since students can choose any fields of study or any colleges. Recent studies showed that all A's students who can entered to top universities reject the offers because of poor finance at home.
Some governments may be in financial crisis if they spend lots of their funds on tertiary education. Lending funds to students will lead to better cash flow in the future since pupils are obliged to pay their debt. Poor learners with good grades still get the chance to attend to their dream university. In Thailand, for example, 30 percents of students were in educational debt and they pay money back monthly after graduating and getting a job.
However, governments can spend money for other serious issues or social problems such as health. The world have more and more elderly people these days and there are more new diseases. Therefore, government may reduce educational budget and use them for lab testing or provide some money to hospitals.
In conclusion, full funding education will be beneficial to students most. Nevertheless. governments may consider other options if their fund is insufficient, in order to fulfill other aspects of social benefits.
