Some people prefer to eat at food stands or restaurant. Other people prefer to prepare and eat at home. Which do you prefer?

Nowadays, people have to work hard, spend more time driving on road and have definitely no time for preparing food by themselves. For most people, therefore, they may like to eat out at food stands or in the restaurant because of convenience and timesaving. And also, they do not need to worry about doing dished after long work hours. However, I am convinced that cooking food by myself and eating in are a better choice. It is one way to reduce stress and I can choose high-quality ingredients. Of cause, the price is lower.

First, preparing food by myself helps to reduce stress from studying. I enjoy cooking because it is an activity that diverts my attention from studying. I always have a headache and undergo stress when I have to study for the examination. After long hours of going over materials, I stop to cook food. I love to cook Tomyumgoong, the most famous Thai food, which is spicy soup with prawn. It contains a lot of herbs such as lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, and galangal. Their smells make my brain clear and animated. After that, I feel better and can continue studying with the energetic brain.

Second, I can choose food ingredients at a supermarket by myself. Home-cooked meal made from high-quality ingredients and hygienic preparation is good for health and it makes me live longer. I usually select organic vegetables because they have no chemicals. Moreover, I prefer buying meat in the supermarket rather than buying it the fresh market because the company which produces this meat always has clean manufacturing process. On the other hand, having been heard news about rats and cockroaches, food stands are not reliable as I do not know about both cleanness of food and cooking process. I use to eat at food stands for once after school and, unfortunately, I got severe diarrhea.

Furthermore, eating at home is cheaper. There is no service charge. It may costs twice as cheaply as eating in restaurant or lesser. I study at Mahidol University at the city center of Bangkok, which is a high cost of living city. Eating at the restaurant costs 2000 baht per week but making food at home costs only 800 baht per week. Resulting from packing home-cooked meals to university, I can save this amount of money for purchasing books and stationaries and need not ask for extra money from my parents. In addition, I can deposit this left money for unexpected situations in the future.

All in all, admittedly, eating out is fast and convenient. However, that is not necessarily true. I am absolutely positive that home-cooked meal is the best selection for people who want to relieve tension, eat high-quality food, and save money.
