tumblr users love K-pop and this year they've been particularly obsessed with sharing gifs of BTS, EXO and GOT7.

Billboard can exclusively reveal 2017's most popular artists on the micro-blogging platform so far with the Top Social Artist at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards taking the No. 1 slot. Following the United States and the U.K., South Korea is Tumblr's third-most active country with the platform boasting more than 90 million engagements with K-pop content annually.

The data was collected from all Tumblr posts using the platform's "kpop" tag with content most often consisting of GIF and photo sets, plus screenshots from Twitter. No doubt the K-pop scene's emphasis on variety show appearances and behind-the-scenes social media content fuels the obsession. Top individual posts of 2017 include TV and user-uploaded clips of BTS' Jimin's "savage" personality, GOT7's BamBam cracking jokes at a concert, a Twitter edit of Seventeen's Wonwoo on a reality show, along with overall commentary on the K-pop scene.

Among the 25 most active artists on Tumblr, BTS reigns over a list that is more than half composed of male groups. Female groups are the second-most popular with TWICE representing as the only non–boy band in the Top 10. The only soloists are in the Top 25 are BIGBANG stars G-Dragon and T.O.P, while one solo co-ed entry comes from K.A.R.D.
