"I got calls and invitations every day... I felt flattered and excited to have met new people and traveled through Thailand, the first time for vacation, not on business, a new great experience.
I made new friends: Suwit Pipatwilaikul from Udon Thani, who was a great host and told me so much about the Northeast of Thailand, and Nataphol Teepsuwan, whose ideas and hard work for the youth I absolutely support. His dream of a modern football academy was an inspiration.
And of course the wonderful people from Thai Honda whose motto, "Club of Tomorrow", shows exactly the right spirit for success. Work hard and honestly, build from the ground up, and have long-term plans, that's the way to go. Thank you all for having me, my friends.
I was surprised when I got an email from the FA out of the blue, and of course I accepted the invitation to meet the president. After Heng became Technical Director, I congratulated him and said that I would help wherever I could, especially to establish a Thai-German cooperation, a project that I had pushed five years ago. I met the new president Somyot, and there's no doubt that he wants to work hard for Thai football. He has the energy and the enthusiasm. If I'm invited, I never go empty-handed, so I presented a development concept, ranging from the most urgent steps to the preparation for Asian Cup 2019 and World Cup 2022 qualification, cooperation between German Bundesliga/FA and Thai FA, structures and plans starting at the grassroots level up to the national team, the education of the many eager Thai youth coaches and so on. I hope it can be an inspiration.
I stayed three weeks and it was great. What I enjoyed the most was the great support from all of you. So many people came to me to ask questions, and that inspired me to start writing about my experience in football, something I never thought I would enjoy so much. I think I'll keep up with it.
