CHINA’S FINEST BOW OUT

It’s official – some of brightest beacons in China’s badminton firmament have retired from national duty.

The Chinese Badminton Association has confirmed the retirements of Women’s Doubles duo – and reigning World champions – Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei (top); another prolific Women’s Doubles icon, Yu Yang (centre; right); and Women’s Singles stars, Wang Shixian (bottom) and Wang Yihan (centre; left).

These personalities have been in the forefront of their country’s success on the international stage for much of the past decade, racking up honours at the highest levels such as the Olympic Games, the BWF World Championships, the BWF Uber Cup, the BWF Sudirman Cup and the BWF World Superseries tour.

Fans around the world will certainly want to applaud their enviable accomplishments and wish them well while waiting to see who fills the void left by their collective departure.

Well done, ladies, and good luck in your respective futures.
