Thailand has signed a procurement deal for further Starstreak high velocity missile ground-based air-defence missile systems, Thales announced on 16 September.
Thales officials declined to comment on the value of the order, or if additional workshare would be passed on to Thai companies. However, the company did tell IHS Jane's that deliveries of the system are expected to take place later in 2016 or early 2017.
The systems are to be fielded by the RTA, with Thales signing the contract with Thai company DataGate to provide the missile systems, and covers additional missiles and launchers.
The contract is a follow-on from Thailand's prior acquisition of Starstreak in 2012, when the Royal Thai Army (RTA) first procured the system in a deal then worth then THB378 million (then USD12 million) for use by the RTA's 7th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion based near Bangkok.
