Cheon Bong-Sam starts out working as a tout and eventually works his way to become a wealthy merchant.

Based on the novel "Gaekju" by Kim Joo-Young (published from June, 1979 to February, 1983 in daily newspaper The Seoul Shinmun).
Korean title "Gaekju" literally translates to “Broker” or “Commission Merchant.” The word “Gaekju” was used during the Joseon Dynasty period and has not been used in the present days.
First script reading took place July 18, 2015 at KBS Annex Broadcasting Station in Yeouido, South Korea. The first script reading took place for more than 13 hours.

ถือว่าเป็นข่าวดีเล็กๆสำหรับ นักแสดงหนุ่มคุณพ่อลูก 3 จางฮยอก มีข่าวรายงานออกมาว่า เขากำลังอยู่ในระหว่างการพิจารณารับเล่นซีรีย์เรื่องใหม่ทาง KBS อยู่
โดยในวันที่ 15 กรกฎาคม ทางด้าน ต้นสังกัดอย่าง Sidus HQ ได้ออกมาเผยว่า “จางฮยอกนั้นได้รับข้อเสนอกับผลงานซีรีย์เรื่อง The Peddler’s Inn (ชื่ออย่างไม่เป็นทางการ) ซึ่งในตอนนี้เขากำลังอยู่ในระหว่างการพิจาณาอย่างมีความเป็นไปได้อยู่ ซึ่งก็จะมีการตัดสินใจต่อไปว่าเขาจะรับบทดังกล่าวหรือไม่หลังจากที่ได้พูดคุยกันในรายละเอียดต่างๆแล้ว”
The Peddler’s Inn จะเป็นซีรีย์แนวอิงประวัติศาสตร์ที่บอกเล่าเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับชายที่ชื่อ ชอนบงซัม ที่ขึ้นมามีอำนาจจากการที่เริ่มต้นจากจุดที่ต่ำต้อยมากๆ ซึ่งมีกำหนดการจะออกอากาศอยู่ในวันพุธ-พฤหัส ตามต่อจากการปิดฉากของซีรีย์เรื่อง Assembly
สำหรับจางฮยอกนั้น ล่าสุดเขาได้เคยฝากผลงานไว้กับซีรีย์เรื่อง Shine or Go Crazy และยังได้มาร่วมแสดงเป็นนักแสดงรับเชิญในซีรีย์เรื่อง Producer ด้วย
