I had an opportunity to be an exchange student at the Osaka University in Japan. The university is the largest in the country and was ranked third in the country for academic excellence. My friends at the university were so kind to introduce me to several tourist attractions in the area. One of them is the Kansai International Airport, which was constructed on a man-made island. Since the airport is situated 50 kilometers from Osaka, one must travel by either a city bus, a train, a car and transfer to a high speed ferry to reach the island.
Another popular attraction is the HEP Five shopping mall which features a large 75-meter Ferris wheel protruding from its roof. The highest point of the wheel measures 106 meters from the ground. The wheel rotates slowly as it takes approximately 15 minutes to make a revolution. The view at the top of the Ferris wheel is simply breathtaking. It is a great spot for taking photographs of the city skyline.
The Osaka Castle stands as the most impressive landmark in the area. It is one of Japan's most famous castles as it played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century. It is considered by many as the most beautiful and the most respected historical site in Japan.
During one evening, my friends took me to a street called Dotonbori. Dotted with hundreds of restaurants, bars, karaoke booths and clubs, the area is famous for fine dining and nightlife. Being there, one must not forget to take a photo with the famous Glico Man.
