Bangkok Airways Review: Bangkok – Vientiane

Hi everyone! This is my first airline review in English. I have done a few reviews in Thai language but recently I thought it will be so much more beneficial if the review is written in English so those of you who are not very familiar with this part of the world will get to see the information before travel, and helps with your planning and travel style.

So now let’s start off. If you are planning to travel between Bangkok, Thailand and Vientiane, Laos there are quite a few airlines offering the service.

THAI AIRWAYS INTERNATIONAL (www.thaiairways.com) - 2 flights daily
BANGKOK AIRWAYS (www.bangkokair.com) - 1 flight daily
LAO AIRLINES (www.laoairlines.com) - 2 flights daily

There used to be LAO CENTRAL  AIRLINES as well, but as of today (10 Jul. 2014) the airline just suspend all of its flights, due to the business financial difficulties.

As I was comparing the prices I came across Bangkok Airways online purchase promotion. With return-tickets of net 5,260 Baht (approx. $USD 164), it’s an irresistible deal.

For those of you who are not familiar with Bangkok Airways, this airline offers complimentary lounge for all its passengers (both domestic and international flights) at Suvarnabhumi Airport. So do check-in early to spare your time to relax in the lounge. Check-in at Suvarnabhumi Airport is usually open 3 hrs. before departure.

Snacks
This is my first time visiting Bangkok Airways international lounge, I only used to travel on domestic routes with this airline. I feel that there is much more variety of snacks offered in the domestic lounge than there is availablยิ้ม.

Chicken puffs, Cheese sandwiches, and Chocolate cup cakes

Chips and cookies
Cookies tasted much better than it looks!

Don't missed out the Thai traditional dessert - Sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves

There's even popcorns

Coffee, Tea, Green Tea, Lemon Tea, Orange Juice, Hot Chocolate, etc.

After filling my stomach - it's now time for boarding.
Our boarding gate for today is D1A, just a few minutes walk from the lounge.

It's a bus gate

A319-131 HS-PPF is waiting for us somewhere out there

Thai Smile Airways is next to our aircraft - will try it's service one day

The flight is almost full today, however I have the whole row by myself.
Seating tips for those who do internet check-in, try to choose the seats near the rear of the a/c as these seats will be the last ones to be allocated. So there are possiblities that you will have one or two seates next to you unoccupied.

Took off from south runway, then turning right towards the city center.

Kanchanapisek Bridge - crossing this bridge to office everyday

Chao Phraya River

Time for onboard meal - still feeling very full from the lounge food.
The menu for today is Duck in Green Noodles, looks good but the duck is too stiff.

Very wet weather in Vientiane, today's total airborne time is 54 minutes.

Very smooth landing
