Man Utd make ‘concrete offer’ for Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez
Manchester United have reportedly launched a “concrete offer” for Switzerland left-back Ricardo Rodriguez – despite having just signed Luke Shaw from Southampton.
The Wolfsburg star, aged 21, was one of the best full-backs on display at the World Cup. But it isn’t clear why United, who have just made fellow left-back Shaw the world’s most expensive teenager, would need him.
Nonethless, reports in Wolfsburg’s local media suggest that United have lodged a bid.
The approach from the Red Devils is described as a “concrete offer” by Wolfsburger Allgemeine.
They claim that a number of top clubs are chasing Rodriguez, but United have made the first move.
United still have veteran France left-back Patrice Evra on their books after he agreed a new one-year contract at Old Trafford. But there have been rumours that incoming manager Louis Van Gaal will attempt to move Evra on when he takes up his post.
Rodriguez won a lot of plaudits for his World Cup performances. He is set to line up against England in the forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers.
