Malaysia Airlines MH370 Flight Incident - 4th Media Statement
We regret to announce that Subang Traffic Control lost contact with flight MH370 at 2:40 am today.
We are currently working with international authorities on the search and rescue mission and as at 1400 hours, 08 March 2014. According to Navy Admiral Ngo Van Phat, Commander of the Region 5, military radar recorded that the plane crashed into the sea at a location 153 miles South of Phu Quoc island.
Response
The airline confirmed that search and rescue operations had begun.[8] Two Chinese rescue ships were deployed to the South China Sea as part of the search.[18] Malaysian authorities have also dispatched a plane, two helicopters and four vessels to search seas off its east coast in the South China Sea.[19]The Philippine AFP Western Command has also sent naval assets and a search-and-rescue plane to the South China Sea to help in the searching efforts.[6][20]
