The Wrap has learned that director James Wan, producer Neal Moritz and Universal Pictures have decided to delay production indefinitely with no concrete plans for how to proceed.
Production was slated to begin in Atlanta today after the Thanksgiving break, but shooting has been canceled, and plans to restart production will wait until after the cast and crew have gotten a chance to grieve. As of now, it's not clear how much more Walker had to shoot, but the sequel is only partially in the can. Therefore, rewrites and reshoots will likely be a necessity. Wan and the rest of the team don't know how they're going to handle this both story-wise and for the production's schedule. The film was already being fasttracked and put together extremely quickly to meet the July 11th, 2014 release date, but this may end up changing those plans entirely.
